My Reflections On This Year in Real Estate - By Lori Cofer, Realtor®

Winters Dusting Lori CoferToday, one day before the last day of the year 2010, I did what I have been doing pretty consistently this year.  I was out showing properties to a buyer.  Yes..there was snow. Lots of it as we had a blizzard yesterday.

As I look back at the Real Estate Market for me in Pullman Washington this year it has been pretty consistent for me.  Yes...I have worked hard...very hard.  But it is a labor of love for me.  I love what I do.  I love homes.  I love working with people.  So for me, it really is something I truly enjoy.  I have met some wonderful folks and had the great privilege of helping them with their real estate needs.  Many of which have become good friends.

As I look at my buyers this year I have to say I  been fortunate to work with some great buyers!   And fortunately, I continue to do so.  I have a few in escrow to start off the New Year in 2011 right.

And  I am proud to say that the sellers who have had sufficient time on the market to turn their homes, priced their homes to sell, and did their part in following suggestions and tips to market their home have SOLD.  Some have moved on to new parts of our world, others to new neighborhoods in Pullman.

I know many say 2011 might indeed be another challenging year, but I look forward to it!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year From Lori!

Wishing You and Yours a Very Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year!

And for many of my clients, I have an additional wish that you enjoy your first Holiday in Your New Pullman Home!  I will be thinking of each and every one of you!

And for those who have sold their homes this year and moved away, may your new life be as wonderful as you are!

With Love,
Lori

The Pullman WA Real Estate Market in December!

snow flakeAs the year is drawing to an end, and the Holidays are right around the corner, you would think our real estate market here in Pullman Washington would of come to a dead halt.  I can't speak for other Realtors®, but I know I continue to be working at a good pace.

Saturday we had quite a snow storm here in Pullman.  It came down pretty fast and furious.  I spent Saturday morning showing homes to a brand new first time home buyer.  It was snowy, but lots of fun.  We had a great time.  Saturday afternoon I spent showing homes to some folks who are considering moving into a little bigger home here in Pullman.  By the end of the day I was beat, but it was a good kind of tired for sure!

People often think that our real estate market here in Pullman is a seasonal one.  In some respects that is true as people tend to move into and out of town around the Washington State University school schedule.  But with Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories hiring all year round, and renters moving into purchasing homes,  as well as sellers thinking of buying a larger homes, the market continues to move along.  Not at the pace of Spring, but it is certainly still active.  Buyers see that values are great and that interest rates can't stay down forever so they are braving the winter elements and looking.

And believe me, the folks that are looking now in spite of snow and all the other adverse weather conditions are serious buyers.  And that is music to any seller's ears.  So Mr. & Mrs. Seller....keep that home tidy and ready for that show!  We might be calling soon to schedule a showing!

I am fortunate to work right downtown at Beasely Realty, so it is just a quick stroll down the street and I look forward to taking in this wonderful event prior to heading over for the Whitman County Association of Realtors Annual Holiday Party at the Bell Tower which is right next door.  Looks like a fun day today here in Pullman Washington.  Today is definitely going to be boot weather for this Realtor...and these boots will be made for walking!

Apple Cup 2010 - Pullman WA

Excitement is always in the air when Apple Cup comes to Pullman Washington!  Apple Cup is our annual football rivalry game between the Washington State Cougars and the Washington Huskies for the much coveted Apple Cup Trophy.  Each year at the end of the season we meet to play this all important game to us here in Washington.

This year the big game will be here in Pullman and folks from all over the state are pouring into town today to begin the festivities prior to kick off on Saturday at 4. As a loyal Cougar Fan living in the heart of Cougar ville here in Pullman I am delighted to see the snow.  And it is going to be cold too.  It is forecasted to be a high of 27 tomorrow.  Now for those who know me, they know I don't like the Snow...and I don't like the Cold....too much anyway.  It is fine for a while near the Holiday time....and of course.....Apple Cup time.

So Go Cougs!  And for those traveling to Pullman today, drive carefully.  And Welcome to Pullman!

Winter is in Full Swing In Pullman Washington!

This has been one challenging week weather wise here in Pullman Washington.  The Washington State University Students have returned back to find Pullman in the depths of a major winter storm.  And yesterday they closed the school early to allow the students plenty of traveling time before dark.  I even saw one of our City of Pullman Buses stuck last night needing a tow!

All of us in Pullman have been so busy coping with the elements that I think everyone is getting a bit tired.  The local hardware stores are temporarily out of de-ice. Snow shovels are running low.  I would suspect they have sold a fair share of snow blowers too.

In the two weeks we have had several major storms.  It all started with a major wind storm that toppled trees.  In fact, I have a rather large branch in my yard waiting to be removed.  Then the snow hit.  We have had days of snow.  So many winter storm watches it is amazing.  A blizzard warning.  A dense fog warning with probably a foot of snow.  Drifting.  More drifting. Now rain....so I would think we could face challenging days of ice and flooding.   I think the app I go to the most these days has to be the weather channel and the road reports.

Gosh I hope they get the roads cleared up soon as Apple Cup is this weekend!  And Yep....I will be showing!I have shown a house this week whereby I couldn't even find the front walk...man I long for spring once again!  Well off to work.  That is the good news....I have some very serious clients.  And just to set the mood today...I am posting this picture I took just this last Labor Day at Lawsen Gardens wishing for warmer days soon!
