Pioneer Hill Pullman Washington ~ A lovely place to live!

Pioneer Hill is located in the north east section of  Pullman Washington, one of four hills found in Pullman.  Pioneer Hill is home to both Kruegel Park and lovely Lawson Gardens.  Many of the residents of Pioneer Hill find this a big bonus to living on Pioneer Hill!

Easter Egg Hunt

Kruegel Park is a favorite among children with great playground equipment, as well as a football field, baseball diamond and soccer field.  On April 3, 2010 the Kiwanis will be sponsoring our local Easter Egg Hunt.  So you can see why this park is a family favorite!Pioneer Hill Pullman WA

Right across the street is Lawson Gardens, a lovely formal garden that is a Pullman favorite for a stroll in the park or a backdrop for your special event.

Both these parks are within walking distance to the homes on Pioneer Hill.  Homes on this hill range from vintage homes that are also within walking and biking distance of downtown Pullman as well as Washington State University.  As you move further up the hill there are some truly lovely homes that range in ages from the 60's to even a few new homes on the furtherest border.

The homes on Pioneer Hill are traditionally the most sought after ho
mes in Pullman.  I would love to show them to you.

College Hill Pullman Washington ~ A great place to live while at WSU

Washington State University Pullman WACollege Hill  is found in the north east section of Pullman, and is one of four major hills that make up Pullman.  There are four major hills that comprise Pullman.   In addition to College Hill there is Military Hill found in the north west section of town, Sunnyside Hill found in the south west part of town, and Pioneer Hill found in the north west section of town.

Pullman contains a wonderful mix of both locals as well as students.  If fact, according to city data for Pullman,  Pullman is listed #51 on the list of Top 100 cities with highest percentage of college students!

Washington State University, which is often called WSU or Wazzu,  was the original and largest land-grant university and was founded in 1890. Thus the homes near the heart of the university are vintage in nature.   There are also some very wonderful homes that have a wonderful and unique nature from the 60s and 70's.

The desirability of many of these homes is the fact that they are close  to the College, especially within walking distance.   Students especially enjoy living in the heart of campus. Professors traditionally enjoy living more on the outskirts of College life but within walking distance, especially in view our awareness of the importance of saving our national resources and living green.

Sunnyside Park On Sunnyside Hill in Pullman WA

Sunnyside Park Pullman WASunnyside, the southwest corner of Pullman Washington, is home to beautiful Sunnyside Park. Sunnyside Park is an expansive park in the heart of Pullman and the home of our wonderful Fourth of July celebration.

This park covers 25 acres and contains two ponds connected by a brook and surrounded by graceful willows.  There is a large gazebo as well as tennis courts, volleyball standards and lots of lovely trails.

There is also an area for community gardens in the summer months through the Pullman Parks and Recreation.  What a great way to grow great vegetables or flowers and get to know your fellow neighbors here in Pullman!

As is typical of Pullman, the homes near downtown are more vintage, and as Pullman expanded out into the outskirts of Sunnyside Hill newer homes were built.

Two of these new neighborhoods are the Whispering Hills Subdivision and the Big Sky Subdivision.  Whispering Hills has trails to the park and is a favorite attraction for many of its residents.  I personally love families walking to the park with their little ones and eager little doggies out for their walk.  It is a great way to start or end a day!

Military Hill Park Pullman Washington

Pullman Washington Terreview Shelter

Military Hill, the northwest section of Pullman Washington, is home to Military Hill Park.  It is located on the corner of Hall Street and Larry Street.  This park is shared with our own Pullman High School with its tennis courts & baseball diamonds.

Pullman WA Walking the Dog

Surrounding the park is also an exercise trail that many love to take the dogs for a walk, on leash of course.

Over the last few days, I had the opportunity to shows homes on Military Hill and the wonderful walking trail was definitely a plus for the neighborhood.  Just a few stones throw from several homes was this wonderful trail.  I have personally walked along it many times and enjoy it immensely...so do my two doggies!

Swimming Pullman Wa Aquatic Center

And of course, one of the favorite nearby attractions is our Pullman Indoor Aquatic Center. The aquatic center is home to many swim lessons for kids of all ages.  They also have a wonderful therapeutic pool that is fantastic...and an exercise center too!  This great facility of Pullman provides year round aquatic enjoyment for Pullman residents of all ages.

The Spring Market is really heating up in Pullman Washington.  Homes for sale especially under the 200,000 range are going!  I know that many of my buyer clients and listing sellers are receiving the benefit of the first time tax credit.  And I have some clients who are also taking advantage of the existing homebuyers tax credit as well.

Today I talked to a wonderful young man thinking of buying a Pullman Home.  He hadn't heard about the tax credit.  So I thought I would include the great Washington Association of Realtors Video that explains the tax credit at the bottom of this market report.

If you have any questions or would like to see some homes that fit your budget, I would love to show you some of these great homes!    Feel free click on the links below.  Or if you would prefer you can email or call anytime!

Spring is Here! Here's a Quiz About Home Repair and Maintenance. See How YOU Do!

Here are some really great tips to keep your Pullman Washington home in tip top shape!  Some of these were new to me so I thought I would share them!

Lori Cofer Realtor Pullman WA

Via Gene Mundt (Chicago Bancorp):

 home

Thought I would post this helpful quiz I found on the National Association of Home Builders site for all of the homeowners amongst us ... and particularly those seriously thinking of selling their home in the near future.

With spring upon us, this article seemed particularly timely and useful.

Routine maintenance and repair of the home is important to the future sale value of a home ... so knowing and following the tips and guidance provided here can and will payoff ... not only in dollars realized, but how quickly a home sells.

Thanks to the NAHB for providing these important home maintenance reminders ...

NAHB logoquestion marks

It's the weekend and you have a whole list of household chores to do. Oh, we know you'd rather be golfing or playing tennis or watching TV, but keeping your home in good shape is important. Your home may be the biggest investment you will ever make. Taking good care of it with regular maintenance is necessary to maintain its value and ensure it will provide a comfortable, safe shelter for you and your family for a long time.

Here is a home maintenance quiz that will test your maintenance knowledge. While this quiz does not address every home maintenance project, it does provide helpful tips and reminders for chores you may have overlooked.

1. How often do forced-air furnace filters need to be changed?
At least every three months during the heating season.

2. What part of the faucet usually needs to be replaced when you have a water leak?

Hardwood floors that do not have a polyurethane finish probably will need to be waxed periodically. Use liquid or paste "spirit" wax.

Water emulsion wax.

In new homes because gallons of water went into the concrete of basement walls.

Rub the channel with a piece of paraffin.

Zoes After Dark! A Great Burger & Micro in Pullman WA

Burger

Zoes is known for its excellent coffee...but tonight we had a great treat...burgers and micros at Zoes!

micro brew

Zoe's has two locations, one on campus at 720 NE. Thatuna  and one on 1960 NE Terreview which is called Zoe's After Dark.  They have recently added some great burgers, micro brews, wines as well as sell wine by the case to go!

Tonight my husband and a couple of my colleagues and friends  stopped by for a great burger and micro brew at their Terreview location.   The food and service was superb. I had a delicious bleu cheese burger. It was fantastic!   I washed it down with a great micro called Blonde Moment
from a local brewery in Clarkston WA.    The hubby had one called Porter Pipeline.  He loved this great dark beer!

Several others had garden burgers and cheese bacon burgers with some great stout beer.  I topped mine off with a fantastic chocolate peanut butter cheesecake and a glass of red wine.

It has a great atmosphere and is centrally located among many of the off campus housing units.  Even though it is Spring Break here at WSU they had lots of patrons. The atmosphere, service and food was fantastic.  Stop by...and ENJOY!
