Some Of My Favorites Things...Pictures Of Pullman WA That Is...

What does Real Estate have to do with pictures?  Well...of course there is the obvious.  Taking pictures of a home, both inside and out.  Maybe some neighborhood pictures as well.  But I also genuinely enjoy taking pictures of this great area in which I live.  And I give others a home town perspective of the part of the world that I call home here in Pullman Washington.

I also find that folks really love seeing pictures from an area that they either live in or are thinking of moving to.  I also have to admit it is one of the ways I relax.  Grabbing the camera and heading out to take pictures is one of the excuses I need to get out and enjoy the great outdoors.  I am one of those that just can't seem to relax unless there is a purpose in it.  I know that sounds contrary to relaxation, but for me it is very relaxing.

Enjoy some of my favorite pictures taken of the beautiful area in Pullman and around Pullman that I call home.

Pullman WA Information

Pullman WA Information  ~ By Lori Cofer "Your Pullman Real Estate Connection"

Pullman WAI am a big fan of Pullman Washington as you can tell.  Pullman Washington is uniquely situated in the rolling hills of the Palouse. What is the palouse you might ask?  I know lots of my relocating clients coming to Pullman ask this of me quite often.  The  Palouse describes some of the most beautiful and picturesque rolling hills that contain very fertile crop land known for producing wheat and legumes. In fact, each year in the fall we have our annual Lentil Festival.  There is a great deal of additional information on the formation and origin of the term Palouse.  Personally I think that the Canadian Fur Traders French term "pelouse" which means land with short and thick grass describes the natural fields that you find in Pullman.

Washington State UniversityPullman is a town of approximately 27,000 residents.  That number rises significantly when Washington State University is in session.  Students from all over the world come to our great university.  And a large portion of those students are from the west side of our state.  The university provides wonderful things for our great community.  So whether you want to take in a game, or maybe go to a concert or enjoy some art, we always have lots to do. I know I enjoy the benefits of living in a college town.  It certainly keeps you young at heart!

And of course, Pullman is uniquely situated near so many outside activities that are always at your beck and call.  We are uniquely situated in between many wonderful areas of the country.  Head north and you are only about and hour and half from Spokane Washington and another 30 minutes and your are in wonderful Couer D'alene.  So whether shopping is your cup of tea or getting out on the lakes, we got you covered. Skiing and snowboarding are popular in the winter months.  Head south about 45 minutes and you are in Lewiston Idaho, the mouth of the Grand Canyon.

We experience all 4 distinct seasons in Pullman.  Relocating clients also ask me quite often about our weather.  Winters do tend to mean snow...maybe not all the time and certainly this year was mild :) but we do begin to see snow fall in late October to Mid November.  Springs are be a wonderful mix of bright sunny days or days when winter seems to try to creep back in with flurries often even into early Spring.  Summer is wonderful here in Pullman.  It usually starts to warm up around Mother's Day and that is traditionally when annuals and planted.  Lovely temperatures to the 80 to 90 in the days and cooler 50 degree evenings.  Fall brings lovely colors to the trees and signals cooler shorter days.

Pullman is divided into four hills or neighborhoods..  The dividing streets are Main Street and Grand Avenue.  They divide our town into  4 areas,
Pioneer Hill, Sunnyside Hill, Military Hill and College Hill.  The following Map I made might be helpful.

We have three elementary schools,
Franklin Elementary, Jefferson Elementary and Sunnyside Elementary.  We have one middle school, Lincoln Middle School, and one high school, Pullman High.  This is one of our treasures in Pullman.  So if you have school age children, you will appreciate our great schools!

Sunnyside Park On Sunnyside Hill in Pullman WA

Sunnyside Park Pullman WASunnyside, the southwest corner of Pullman Washington, is home to beautiful Sunnyside Park. Sunnyside Park is an expansive park in the heart of Pullman and the home of our wonderful Fourth of July celebration.

This park covers 25 acres and contains two ponds connected by a brook and surrounded by graceful willows.  There is a large gazebo as well as tennis courts, volleyball standards and lots of lovely trails.

There is also an area for community gardens in the summer months through the Pullman Parks and Recreation.  What a great way to grow great vegetables or flowers and get to know your fellow neighbors here in Pullman!

As is typical of Pullman, the homes near downtown are more vintage, and as Pullman expanded out into the outskirts of Sunnyside Hill newer homes were built.

Two of these new neighborhoods are the Whispering Hills Subdivision and the Big Sky Subdivision.  Whispering Hills has trails to the park and is a favorite attraction for many of its residents.  I personally love families walking to the park with their little ones and eager little doggies out for their walk.  It is a great way to start or end a day!

Fall in Pullman Washington is Here!

The official beginning of Fall may still be weeks away, but for Pullman Washington Fall is here!  Living in a community that is  centered around Washington State University makes Pullman special!  Our town literally explodes this time of year as the students return and our town nearly doubles.  Classes both on the WSU campus and our local area Pullman schools have begun!

WSU Martin StadiumBut what really marks the beginning of the Fall for Pullman has got to be football!  Our first game is tomorrow, (September 5, 2009) against the Standford Cardinals at 3 PM... and you can definitely feel the excitement in the air!  Our fans are die hard Cougars through and through! One of my favorite bumper stickers says it all..."Cougars bleed Crimson."

Our die hard fans will pour into town from all over the state, many in RVs that become  stage central for tailgate parties...and there will be tons of those!   And the weather looks like it will be awesome both today and for the big game tomorrow!  I tell you what....you gotta love living in Pullman Washington!!! GO COUGS!
