It seemed like not so long ago I was driving from Pullman to Lewiston and stopped and took this great picture enchanted by the contrasts of the snow and the wagon wheel fence of the Dahmen barn.
Snow seemed magical then. Well...it is now February and like most folks here in Pullman we are wanting Spring to be here. Lately, the weather has been great!
But just as ww were nearing the end of February and it looks like we are some crazy weather here in Pullman Washington this week. It has been snowing today and we are expected to have more snow over the next few days. Then the temperatures are to dip...down to zero!
So if you got lulled into thinking we were heading for an early Spring, think again! Take the necessary precautions before the weather gets cold and nasty.
I can't begin to tell you how much I hate showing homes in the snow! Fortunately for me, I did my showings Monday before the snow hit last nite. It is challenging trying to drive and sure appreciated when the drive and walks are shoveled.
If you connected any hoses on those mild warm days when we pushed up to the high 50 degree mark, get them disconnected. Even if your faucets are of a nature to avoid freezing, hoses aren't. Water expands when it freezes...so the water in the hose expands right into your faucet and you guessed it....results in a break.
Some folks here have hot water heaters in the garage. Not one of my favorite spots for sure. But if you do, please take a moment and wrap the copper with heat tape. If your garage is not insulated or heated you could end up with frozen tubing also resulting in a break.
Keep your heat up. And keep the cupboards under your sinks open so air can circulate under the cabinet.
Before you know it this weather will be over and warmer days will be ahead. I sure hope so...and so I am sure do you!
