Now That is a Move...

I was watching the news while getting my kitchen cleaned up and ready for some serious cooking over the next few days and overheard a broadcast stating that a Couer D'Alene Cabin was on the move.

I looked up and couldn't believe it!  A move!  That was an understatement!  They are barging a 100,000 pound cabin across the lake!  Here is the link in case you would like to see the pictures of the  move.

According to the reporter and the article posted on line, the land was purchased to build a multi-million dollar home along the lake....soooo the cabin had to go.

It looks like quite an extensive undertaking.  First, of course, they had to get it off the foundation and on the barge.  Can you imagine the shifting weight?

And what the report brought out that the article doesn't, is that it will be an uphill challenge to get that cabin on it's new and waiting foundation.

The company spokesman said he and his crew would be working through Thanksgiving.  It was a large job and they just couldn't pass it up...just hope they take some much needed time to enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving Feast

Happy Thanksgiving!

Moving a house is quite the ordeal.  I have seen this done one myself.  That had to clear the street of cars nad had spotters along the waywatching power poles and others things that sometimes got in the way.

This should be on that show "Move This House" I haven't seen it in a while, so maybe it's off air.  That is crazy...seems like it would have been easier/cheaper to just tear it down.  Maybe they're giving it to someone for cost of moving?  Very interesting story!  Loved the pictures!

Charles ~ It is amazing...what I can't imagine is moving it across a lake!

Aja ~ It does seem like it isn't very cost effective....but I guess the guy bid it at 40K....so maybe it makes cents...LOL

Sheldon ~ Me too....and I sure can't imagine watching your house move across the lake....

I think it is great that someone wanted to save it.  I loved Move that House the few times I saw it.  I also loved your Thanksgiving video at the end of the post. Have a great Thanksgiving

Hi Lori!  We see that here too but, NOT by barge!  I too used to love Move That House but, don't even know if it's still on.

As for your Thanksgiving card--that is absolutely beautiful!  I love it!  I'll have to remember that site for Christmas.

I hope you and yours have a wonderful Thanksgiving...

Lori-that is just crazy!  You have to really love a house to pay to do that!  My husband watched it too and said he used to watch them do that on a show (move that house?-not sure) and he would like that show to come back on.  Cool clip!
