Lori, nice photo! Great contrast of textures!
Sand Lake is an amazing lake of sand not far from the Oregon Coast off Cape Look Out. I was amazed to see this huge lake of sand. At first I thought it must of been a tsunami that brought such huge amounts of sand inland a few miles. But the sign said it was due to winds that picked up and deposited the sand. It was amazing to see these big pine trees growing out of this huge area of sand....and yes, it is a favorite for the dune buggies... :)
Nice picture. I've never heard of a sand lake! But now I know it's worth a side trip if I'm up that way.
sand and grass present beautifully.
I like that photo...makes me want to take my shoes off and skip through the sand.
That is so neat - is there a name for that grass? Ok, I know, I should just look it up, but I'm getting too old for that. Thanks for sharing.
Ooooh . . .pretty grass! Wonder if it would grow in Spokane!
Good morning Lori!
This is a beautiful picture...Looking at the mountains in the background gives you a better focus on the grass.
Cool photo. I was wondering how large sand lake is and where it is located?
Here is a bit about Sand Lake. According to the sign it is over 1076 acres of sand dunes brought in by the wind with unstable vegetation. That is a lot of sand!
Here is the fascinating part. The sign says the first need for dune buggies here was during WW2. They needed to guard the coast...so tractors were improvised to move equipment to the coast to watch the Pacific Coast along this area....
Great picture Lori. I would have thought that was California.
Oh no, your lake dried up! Nice picture though, but seriously, where is the lake?

Scott ~ Interesting.....I hadn't thought of that!
Todd ~ Ha! Ha! It is a lake of just sand....have you seen it...it is in your neck of the woods!
Lori.
I heard of places and bodies of water being called sand lake but never an actual lake of sand. :)
Steve
Lori,
Thanks for bringing us Sand Lake. Now featured on "Silent Saturday." Congratulations.
